Managing inventory in monday.com can go beyond tracking quantities. You can record extra details — like the customer or project name — directly in your stock updates. This article walks you through how to add details to your stock updates in a few easy steps.

Open the Stock Updates Board

  • In your Inventory Management workspace, find the Stock Updates board in the left panel. This board records each stock update. By default, it includes product and quantity, but you can easily add more details.

Add New Columns to Record Additional Information

  • In the Stock Updates board, click + Add Column on the far right (just as you would add a column to any monday.com board)
  • Choose the type of column you need (you can add as many columns as you need).
    • Status column for tracking details like customer names.
    • Connect Boards column for linking related boards — for example, connecting to your Projects board. For example, add a Status column called “Customer” and a Connect Boards column called “Projects.” This lets you tag which customer or project each stock update relates to.

Choose Which Columns Appear in the Update Form

  • Go back to your Inventory Management dashboard.
  • Open the Product Catalog settings:
    • Click the three dots in the upper-right corner of the Product Catalog widget
    • Select Settings, then navigate to the stock update section

  • Under settings scroll down to the ‘Stock Updates section. Check the boxes for the columns you would like to add to the stock update form. For example,
  • The added columns will be displayed as part of the stock update process. For example, here you can see the added column “Customer.”

Review Your Updated Entries

Test your submission form, then head back to the Stock Updates board to confirm your entry.

You’ll see your product, updated quantity, and any linked customer or project details — all in one place.

Now you’re ready to use this new form to collect all the necessary data with every new stock update.
