Want faster, cleaner form submissions? SuperForm lets you set default values in your forms, so users can complete submissions with fewer clicks and fewer mistakes.
Use Case: Pre-Filled Inventory Update Using Default Values
Let’s say you’re using SuperForm to manage stock. You can set your form so that:
- The Transaction Type field automatically defaults to “Take out of stock”, and
- The Amount field defaults to -1

With these default values pre-set in your form, your team can update inventory in seconds without manual typing and the risk of human errors.
Here’s how to set up default values for all types of SuperForms:
Setp 1: Enable Save Draft
- Open your form in the SuperForm editor
- Go to the Restrictions tab
- Toggle on “Save as Draft”
This allows you to create and save a draft version of the form that includes pre-filled default values.

Step 2: Enter Your Default Values
- Click the Preview button to open the form.
- Fill in the fields with the values you want to set as defaults.

For example, set “Transaction Type” to “Take out of stock” and “Amount” to “-1.”
Step 3: Save the Draft
- Scroll down and click “Save as Draft.”
- Copy the link that appears and store it safely — this is your form with the pre-filled default values.
- Share the link with your team or anyone who needs to access the form.
Anyone using this link will see your default values already filled in.

Step 4: Make Defaults Read-Only (Optional)
By default, all default values are editable. For example, if a user wants to remove two items from the stock, he can change the default -1 to -2.
If you want to lock the default values, do this:
- Return to the SuperForm editor.
- Set the pre-filled fields to “View only.”
This makes the values visible but uneditable.

Disable User Drafts (Optional)
SuperForm makes it possible for end users to save drafts while they are editing the form. This is especially useful if the form is long or they need to stop filling it in the middle.
Note: Each time a user clicks “Save Draft,” SuperForm generates a unique URL containing that data that the user can then use to return to the form they are working on.
If you don’t want users to save their own drafts:
- Go to the Restrictions tab.
- Turn off the “Save as Draft” toggle.
- Note: Disabling save drafts prevents new drafts from being saved. The link to the original draft that was saved with pre-filled default values will still be active and no changes will be made to those settings.
