Conditions are the quiet heroes of a well-oiled workflow. They make sure projects, deals, and items only move forward when they’ve met all the necessary specifications.

In this article, we’ll explain how to configure conditions (and multiple conditions) in the Workflow app to keep things running smoothly in monday.com.

Step 1: Open the Workflow Editor

Start by heading into the Workflow Editor. This is the command center where you define who can do what (required permissions) and which columns absolutely must be filled in (required columns) before the next move is allowed. Think of it as your central command center. This is where you’ll be able to add workflow conditions.

Step 2: Add a New Condition

To create workflow conditions, click the gears icon and insert your condition.

This is where you set the criteria an item has to meet before it can advance to the next status or phase. For example, requiring a minimum deal value for a lead to be classified as qualified. If the deal value is listed as below the value listed in the condition, the deal cannot be marked as qualified.

Step 3: Add Additional Conditions with With “And” / “Or”

Sometimes one condition is enough. Other times you need multiple conditions, such as: If the deal value is below $10,000, approval from a manager is required in order to mark it as qualified. Workflow supports multiple conditions using “and” and “or” logic. To set additional conditions, simply add them underneath the original condition by pressing on the gears icon and adding your additional condition(s).

Setting multiple conditions allows you map real-world scenarios with precision, whether they’re simple, nuanced, or extremely complex.

Use Case Examples

Conditions aren’t just for sales teams. They fit right into:

  • HR onboarding
  • Operations and logistics
  • Inventory management
  • Financial and procurement approvals
  • And just about any other workflow
